The Genoese Triptych

Three novels, three centuries, one city. Genoa built its fortune on ships, seals and ledgers, and on the men who made them. Each panel follows one of those makers at the moment his craft decides more than he meant it to: a shipwright at Jerusalem in 1099, a factor in besieged Caffa in 1343, a clerk across the water from Constantinople in 1453.

Each novel stands on its own. Read in order, they trace one city across three hundred and fifty years.
